Shiftboard’s New Mobile-First User Experience
New user experiences for schedulers, line managers, and hourly/shift workers to improve workforce scheduling productivity and worker engagement
SEATTLE – April 23, 2019 –Shiftboard, a leading provider of enterprise workforce scheduling software, has released a new, completely redesigned mobile-first user experience (UX). The shift to a mobile-first UX radically improves the productivity of both managers and workers by increasing their ability to quickly respond to changing dynamics within complex scheduling environments. Many companies have scheduling operations supported by multiple people and roles. Shiftboard’s new UX caters to the specific needs of three key roles which includes schedulers who need access to advanced functionality, line-managers who oversee day-to-day schedule management, and shift workers of all types who need anytime, anywhere access to their schedule.
As highlighted in a recent Deloitte Insights article, today’s enterprise line managers and workers are constantly on the go and need solutions that can be as mobile as they are, whether they’re in a production facility, hospital, visiting remote sites, or around the office.
“Enterprise workforce operations are very dynamic with the need to make on-the-go scheduling changes immediately. Providing an enhanced mobile experience is critical to meeting these needs.” said Dorothy Pults, director of product for Shiftboard. “The power and agility of our new mobile-first UX makes it a great fit for enterprise organizations to respond to day-to-day scheduling changes while maintaining vital communication with their workforce.”
Shiftboard tackles the complexity of enterprise scheduling by providing three distinct user experiences:
- Admin View: Provides advanced capabilities and configurability for “power” schedulers, and system administrators.
- Manager View: Enables line managers to quickly handle daily scheduling tasks such as filling open shifts, confirming and managing call-outs, and approving time cards.
- Worker View: Provides shift workers with a simple, intuitive interface to check schedules, confirm assignment details, swap shifts, and clock in and out.
Shiftboard’s new UX features a mobile-first design, simplified navigation, streamlined workflows, and a new filtering paradigm enabling information to be found quickly. Extending across web browsers, iOS and Android phone apps, the new UX was based on direct customer input and market research, ensuring the design met the needs of dynamic workforces.
“Enterprise companies have complex employee scheduling needs and require solutions that are both highly configurable and easy to use,” said Frank Pereira, managing partner of Coleman Consulting Group, a leading provider of workforce management solutions. “This mobile-first user experience, for both managers and workers, demonstrates a movement toward understanding the unique needs of larger organizations.”
“At LUSH we are aiming to create a highly dynamic scheduling environment, so having real-time scheduling capability can be highly beneficial for us,” said Alan Nair, Labor Scheduling Project Lead at LUSH Fresh Handmade Cosmetics. “We are excited about Shiftboard’s new, mobile- first user experience as the improved user interface and functionality will allow for higher engagement with managers and employees using the scheduling tool.”
